Built to get out of your way
Kanbanq started as a frustration with project tools that were more work than the work itself. We built something small, fast, and honest – for teams who want to ship, not configure.
Why we built it
Most project management tools are built for people who manage projects, not for the people actually doing the work. They come loaded with story points, epics, t-shirt sizing, approval chains, and enough hierarchy to make a simple task feel like filing a form. We wanted none of that.
We wanted something focused on the work itself. Real-time collaboration, proper kanban structure, and just enough agile methodology to keep a team moving – without the ceremony. The kind of tool that appeals to designers, developers, students, game makers, and creative teams who know what they need to ship and just want to get on with it.
So we built Kanbanq: a dual-board system that keeps your active sprint separate from your long-term backlog, real-time multiplayer so your whole team stays in sync, and an AI layer that generates the progress report the moment you complete a cycle. No manual write-ups. No standups just to say what you did. The tool handles it.
The free tier is generous enough that you never feel forced to upgrade. And when you do upgrade, it's a straightforward monthly price with no tricks.
What we believe
Simplicity is a feature
Every setting we add is a decision someone else has to make. We add things slowly and remove them quickly.
Teams over hierarchies
Kanbanq is built for the people doing the work, not the people approving it. No permission matrices, no approval chains.
Transparent by default
No lock-in, no annual traps, no hidden fees. The free tier is genuinely free. Pro is genuinely simple.
The team
Kanbanq is built by two people – a self-funded team split between Warsaw, Poland and Yakima, Washington, USA.
